When Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) gave TSLC “From the Snow-Tipped Hills,” arrangers Heather Ogilvy and Mikey Wells immediately connected with the meditative, peaceful sense of space it evoked. They built upon that meditation, layering voices little by little as the song gradually grows. The track swells and shifts both in terms of the vocals and the tempo, which is forever slowing down or gaining momentum. Video director (and TSLC bass) Charlie Maas wanted to capture that vastness and deceleration in the video while paying homage to our home-base in Silver Lake; hence, slow motion and that final ascending drone shot.
